ABOUT THE COURSE
The scholars and publishers who initially authored, worked on and released this “briefcase” in Shafi’i Fiqh had the intention to simplify and present the Madhab to students in an uncomplicated manner. Through the use of slides, charts and exercise questions the goal is to challenge and build the academic prowess of students and help them retain the information they learn.
Led by Ustadh Hesham Alagbari, TheShafiiPen Institute alongside a group of studious students aims to transform this “briefcase” into the English language in all facets. This includes teaching, translating the material and presenting it to all those who enrol in the program inshaa Allah.

Foundational Islamic Law Studies Series (FILSS) is a unique 1 year program that aims to help ground aspiring students of knowledge in Shafii Fiqh as they explore various topics.
Upon completion, the student will have a great mind map of the Madhab and should be able to move on and study other primer texts in Shafii Fiqh.
Module 1: Intro to Islamic Law/Legal Schools
Module 2: Intro to the Shaf’ii Legal School
Module 3: Law of Acts of Worship
Module 4: Islamic Legal Maxims
Module 5: Principles of Islamic Law
Module 6: Law of Transactions
Classes Will be held Online and taught in English
Live classes will be recorded and provided to students who are enrolled
English notes and diagrams will be provided by the teacher

Who is Ustadh Hesham?
Ustadh Hesham’s journey into Islamic Sciences started more than 20 years ago when he was still in high school learning various sciences with local teachers. Over the years, he had the opportunity to learn in-person and online with scholars from Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
In 2016, he completed the ‘Alimiyyah Programme (Islamic Scholarship Programme) at Al-Salam Institute in the UK under the tutelage of Dr. Akram Nadwi.
Currently, he is continuing advanced studies in the fields of Tafseer, the Arabic Language and literature, Fiqh and Theology. He has been leading prayers, and delivering classes and sermons for the last 10 years in the Ottawa region.
